Sinking Elbow, Drooping Shoulder
zkell99 — Tue, 06/16/2009 - 23:13

Sinking Elbow and Drooping shoulder are two of the "motto's" in Si num tao. These can be illustrated in the 3rd section through the fuk sao and huen sao. It is important to droop the shoulder or keep it connected to the body so that the full force of the body is behind the movement of the arm. Sinking elbow is an action that is performed to create space without drawing ones energy in a backward motion. In wing tzun we lead with the elbow!!
For Wednesday there will be no class at three kings. I will be holding an open practice in my back yard from noon - 1:30. please call if you plan on stopping buy.
Work Out of the Day:
warm up with one legged si num tao once on each leg.
tabata chain punches either in the air or on a heavy bag.
tabata work outs are 4 minute long drills involving intervals of work and rest. for this drill chain punch at maximum intensity for 20 seconds followed directly by 10 seconds of rest. repeat this for 8 rounds of high intensity work to give a 4 minute work out.
cool down with standard si num tao focusing on breathing and perfect form and technique.
part of my goal with this web site is to inform my students of what to expect in class each day as well as provide an at home work out that can be performed in the absence of class. todays WOD is a pretty easy one and as i collect feed back on the work outs i'll ramp up the intensity.

it was a small group this week which meant we had more personal attention from dai-sifu Emin Boztepe. This always makes for a better training session. I made 12th student level today and both of my students made 2nd and 3rd.
congratulations to:
Alex McWatt 2nd & 3rd SL
Matty Marcus 2nd & 3rd SL
Si-Hing Zachary Kell 12th SL

it makes me very proud to see people i've trained pass tests that we have all been through.
