What is Wing Tzun ?

Wing Tzun or Wing Tsun is a highly effective form of weaponless self-defense and was developed in China more than 400 years ago. Wing Tzun utilizes a person's innate reflexes and the principles of force and motion to redirect an attackers energy against himself.

Who should take Wing Tzun ?

Anyone who wants to learn practical self-defense and have fun too.

Do I need to be athletic?

No, applying Wing Tzun techniques doesn't require strength, fitness or above average flexibility. Additionally, Wing Tzun is especially suited for women as it was developed by a woman.

Will I get a good work out?

Yes, Wing Tzun training provides a well rounded physical and mental workout.

How often are classes?

Currently, you can take up to 3 classes a week and empire city self defense, but more classes are offered at our sister schools.  Please check external links for information on their class sceduals. Each class is an hour and half long.

Do I need special clothing or equipment?

To start all you'll need is a T-shirt, shorts or sweat pants and sneakers. Eventually, you may want to get some protective hand and leg pads.

How long does it take to advance each student level?

Like any discipline it depends on practice and natural aptitude but typically it takes about 3 months to prepare for the next student level.

Is there a ranking system?

Yes, Wing Tzun ranking is categorized by 12 student levels and 12 instructor levels.

Are there forms in Wing Tzun?

Wing Tzun has three forms: Siu-Nim-Tau (Little Idea), Chum-Kiu (Arm Seeking), Biu-Tze (Thrusting Fingers).

Are there weapons in Wing Tzun?

Wing Tzun has long pole and double knives training. Additionally, Escrima is offered as a complement to the style.
